About
Four decades of academic excellence
Founded in 1984, Matam has grown into an autonomous degree and postgraduate college affiliated to Osmania University, accredited A++ by NAAC.
A college with a civic purpose
Matam Degree & PG College was established to bring rigorous, affordable higher education to the families of Hyderabad. From 120 students in its first year, it now serves over five thousand across eighteen departments.
As an autonomous college, we design our own curriculum through Boards of Studies, conduct our own examinations and award degrees under Osmania University — keeping our syllabi current and our assessment transparent.
The college is recognised by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B), holds 'College with Potential for Excellence' status, and is accredited A++ by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.68.

Vision & Mission
Vision
To be a college of first choice in Telangana, where every sincere student — regardless of means — receives an education that is rigorous, humane and transformative.
Mission
- Deliver an outcome-based, industry-aware curriculum.
- Advance research and involve students in it.
- Keep higher education affordable and accessible.
- Prepare graduates for careers, professions and public service.
From the leadership
We built Matam College on a single promise — that a student from any background can receive an education that stands comparison with the best. Our A++ accreditation is not a trophy; it is the measure of teachers who prepare, of laboratories that work, and of a college that keeps that promise year after year.
Sri Anand Rao Matam
Chairman, Matam Educational Trust
As an autonomous college, we own our curriculum and our examinations, and with that ownership comes accountability. We publish our outcomes, we invite scrutiny through the IQAC, and we hold ourselves to the standard our accreditation represents. Students here are taught, mentored and known by name.
